The path to a black belt in relationships

What is ERL?

Embodied Relational Leadership (ERL) is the beating heart of our approach. It’s a method we’ve developed to go deeper than traditional leadership training by involving your whole self in the process: body, mind, and the way you relate to others.

It’s about showing up with presence, curiosity, and a willingness to truly listen — to both others and yourself.

The core of ERL

Learning by doing

We don't just talk about development – you experience it. Through hands-on exercises with others, you get to try new things in real time. It’s learning that feels alive, energizing, and immediately applicable to your everyday leadership.

Hands-on training, grounded in research

Our method is deeply experiential - but it’s also backed by solid theory. We draw on frameworks from adult development, relational theory, mindfulness, and embodied cognition to support everything we do.

Embodiment: You are also your body

A lot of people think leadership is all about the mind, but your body matters just as much. Embodiment is a core part of ERL. It’s the idea that your body and mind are always working together in how you experience and engage with the world. It’s about leading with your whole self - fully present, fully engaged.

What do we actually do?

In ERL, the foundation is hands-on, experience-based exercises:

Done solo, in pairs, in
small groups, or all together

Always adapted to
the group's needs

Focused on presence and genuine connection

Space for reflection and developing self-leadership

In a safe, supportive space, you’ll get to explore:

What it feels like to speak to others and be heard

How you respond to feedback

How to be more authentic in your interactions

What trust and psychological safety really mean for you

What influences your decisions when things get tough

Your development journey with ERL

Many of these qualities align with the Inner Development Goals (IDG) – a Swedish initiative supporting the UN's sustainability goals by identifying the inner skills we need to tackle today's biggest challenges. These are exactly the skills you develop through ERL.
